Comparison of actual bending of guide pipe for inclinometer and obtained data from inclinometer

Deformation of a guide pipe for inclinometer in a vertical shaft was measured after a field loading test which caused 20cm displacement on a natural slope. The measurement revealed that the guide pipe had been bended at boundary of soft clay soil and mud stone/tuff. Chang of guide pipe inclination toward the upper slope side at the guide pipe below slip surface was observed in the field loading test. It was considered that the space between the boring wall and guide pipe was backfilled with sand and load to the guide pipe along the pipe were causes.
