Landslide is one of the main natural disasters in which human life and social properties are lost. A prediction of a dangerous area of landslide is the most important and necessary to prevent the sediment related disasters. On this purpose we examine an analytical technique by a finite element method to predict the running out extent area and sediment height of sliding mass. The instability of numerical solution is seen by the analysis of finite element method on shallow water equation describing landslide movement. On this account we present CIVA-stabilized Finite Element Method that analyzes the advection term exactly.<BR>The movement of landslide mass is influenced by scatter stress with it and basal resistance force which needs to handle discontinuity at the beginning and the ending of the movement. Then we consider the move and stop condition into the numerical simulation. We analyze the problems of various kinds of advection model and a real landslide disaster, and show the effectiveness and the propriety of present technique.
