Suspensions prepared from papular lesion of a Japanese serow (<I>Capricornis crispus</I>) infected with contagious pustular dermatitis were inoculated intracutaneously in the lips of a calf and four goats. Macular, pustular, nodullar and papillary lesions develpoed in the order listed, and finally recovered.<BR>Cytoplasmic and intranuclear inclusions were found in degenerative prickle cells. Cytoplasmic inclusions consisted of viroplasm containing mature or immature viral particles. The viral particle had the structure and size of parapoxvirus. Intranuclear inclusions contained filamentous structures.
