An 11-year-old Maltese mongrel bitch was affected with mitral insufficiency. She took a relatively acute course for about 5 months after the initial examination to present hepatomegaly, deposition of ascites, and jugular pulse, which were characteristic of congestive cardiac insufficiency. Electrocardiography, phonocardiography, roentgenography, cardioangiography, and endocardial pressure test were carried out on her to clarify the process of exacerbation of the impairment and obtain some guideline for the clinical diagnosis of the cardiac insufficiency.
