Sixteen main lymph nodes (LN) in the body were studied macroscopically in 30 pigs weighing 60-75kg, slaughtered at an abattoir, and proved perfectly healthy at the meat inspection station.
1. Individual differences in longer diameter were large among the internal iliac, bronchial, and superficial inguinal LN, and small among the popliteal and splenic LN.
2. Individual differences in shorter diameter were large among the gastric, ventral superficial cervical, hepatic, and parotid LN, and small among the dorsal superficial cervical and infrailiac LN.
3. Individual differences in thickness were large among the hepatic, and submandibnlar LN, and small among the colic and external iliac LN.
4. Individual differences in weight were large among the superficial inguinal, subman-dibular, and hepatic LN, and small among the external iliac, colic, and splenic LN.
5. The hepatic LN consisted of 2-9 pieces, which weighed 4.2-16.0g in total. The rate of the weight of the total pieces to the weight of the largest piece of the hepatic LN ranged from 1.20 to 3.62.
