Mixed tumor of the lacrimal sac?

The patient was a 43-year-old man. Henoticed a small brownish black nodule on theright upper side of the nose and near the innerangle of the right eye about one year ago. Nowit has become 8mm in diameter.<BR>Histopathologically, this nodule was an intradermaltumor without connection of any peculiargland, surrounded by a thin connective tissuecapsule. It had a large cyst in the center linedby tumor masses consisting of tubular luminaand narrow epithelial strands embedded in anabundant stroma. The contents of the cystcontained cholesterin crystals, destroyed red cellsand colloid-iron positive granules. The stromahad mucinous substances that were stained withalcian blue. In the luminal epithelia, there weregoblet cells in places that had PAS-positive, diastase-resistant and alcian blue positive granules.<BR>Because the nodule was located near the lacrimalsac, there was a large cyst in the centerof the tumor, and there were goblet cells withinthe luminal epithelia, we suspected that ourexperienced tumor was a mixed tumor of theectopic lacrimal sac.
