Coating properties consisting of thermoplastic block copolymers of a non aqueous dispersion (NAD) type were investigated. Four kinds of NAD coating films, whose insoluble polymer parts had different monomer compositions and glass transition temperatures (<I>T</I><SUB>g</SUB>), were subjected to accelerated weathering tests. An NAD coating film, whose insoluble polymer had a <I>T</I><SUB>g</SUB> of 56°C, nearly retained initial gloss after the weathering test. As <I>T</I><SUB>g</SUB> of the insoluble polymer of NAD base polymers became low, 37°C and 19°C, gloss retention of NAD coating films tended to decrease. Since insoluble polymers of low <I>T</I><SUB>g</SUB> had more butyl acrylate units having a tertiary hydrogen atom and lower molecular weights than insoluble polymers of high <I>T</I><SUB>g</SUB>, NAD base polymers having insoluble polymer parts of low <I>T</I><SUB>g</SUB> were easily cleaved by UV light in a short time. On the other hand, in the case that <I>T</I><SUB>g</SUB> of insoluble polymer parts were too high, 85°C, there broke out cracking on the coating film and caused round-shape flaking owing to low tensile strength and low adhesion strength of the NAD coating film. Measuring contact angles with water on the interface of NAD polymer films and glass plate indicated that insoluble polymer parts of NAD polymers were easy to orientate to polar substrates such as glass plates and contributed to high adhesive strength on the substrate. However, fluidity of NAD on the substrate was not enough and caused low adhesive strength when <I>T</I><SUB>g</SUB> of the insoluble polymer part of the NAD polymer was 85°C.
