Synthetic methods of graft copolymers via particular prepolymers having pendant O-O bonds were developed. Prepolymers having pendant O-O bonds were prepared by copolymerization of first monomer and peroxide monomerhaving an O-O bond at a temperature below the decomposition temperature of the O-O bond in a peroxide monomer. Graft copolymers were obtained by the addition polymerization of second monomers initiated by polymer radicals fromthe prepolymers. Peroxide monomers prepared here were t-butylperoxy-allyl carbonate (decomposition temperaturegiving 10h half-life time, 97°C), <I>t</I>-butylperoxy-methacryloyl-oxyethyl carbonate (104.3°), and <I>t</I>-butylperoxy-isopropylfumarate (106.7°C in monomer, 79.7°C in prepolymer). The compositions of polymerization mixtures obtained with firstmonomer/second monomer/peroxide monomer: 1: 1: 0.03 wt were as follows: poly (vinyl acetate) (PVAC) -<I>graft</I>-polystyrene (PSt) /PVAC/PSt =59: 17: 24, poly (methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) -<I>graft</I>-PSt/PMMA/PSt=44: 33: 23, and PYAC-<I>graft</I>-PSVPVAC/PSt=52: 9: 39.
