A study was carried out on the relationship among the MLBF (Mean Length between Feeding-end), MSFE (Mean Size of Filament End at the feeding point) and R (Reelability, 1≥R>0) as well as the fluctuations of the size of raw silk relating to the MSFE.It was concluded that:(1) If the LBF closely reflects the Weibull's distribution f{m, x0, γ}, the shape parameter m will generally be in the range between 1.8-2.5 and the ratio of MLBF/LBF (xmax) approximately be in the range 0.3 or 0.4.(2) When the size of raw silk reaches the LSFF (Limit Size for Feeding End), the corrected size of raw silk at the LSFF will jump and instantaneously be increased. Then the corrected size of raw silk is assumed to gradual decrease at a constant rate of MSFE/MLBF=tan θ′, whereas MLBF will be determined by the mean value of Weibull's density function f{m, x0, γ}, expressed by x1/m0Γ(1+1/m), Γ: Gamma function.(3) On the other hand, MSFE can be determined by the reelability R, which depends on the properties of the cocoons or the reeling conditions, and the mean size of new cocoons and dropped-end cocoons at their feeding points by the calculation of the mixed rate.(4) The value of tan θ′ can be estimated by the rate of MSFE/MLBF under the predetermined range of R and by the corresponding value of MSFE.
