The distribution of mycoplasma-like organisms in the tissues of dwarf-diseased mulberry leaf and the imago of the vector leaf hopper which had sucked the sap of infected mulberry tree were investigated by fluorescent antibody technique. An indirect fluorescent antibody method was carried out using the anti-dwarf mulberry leaf specific serum as a primary antibody and rabbit IgG conj. FITC as a secandary antibody. Specific fluorescence was observed in the phloem and thick walled parenchyma of infected mulberry leaf. The same specific fluorescence was also observed in the salivary grand and the fat body in abdomen of viruliferous vector leaf hopper. These results indicate that it is possible to diagnose a viruliferous leaf hopper by fluorescent antibody technique.
