It is important to know the optimum soil moisture condition in cuting bed for the propagation of mulberry tree. This study was carried out to know the relationship between growth of hard-wood cutting of mulberry tree and moisture tensions (PF 0 to 1.6), using river sand. The sprouting from cutting silps was accelerated under the lower PF plots (PF 0 to 1.3) than under the higher plots (PF 1.5 to 1.6). The root initation showed the highest value (95%) at PF 1.3 and PF 1.5 plot, and the root weight exceeded 1 gram. From the above-mentioned results it may be concluded as follow: In the utilization of river sand, the range of the optimum moisture tension, for the production of young cuttage of mulberry tree, was from PF 1.3 to 1.5.
