A measuring technique and device were developed for collecting the size information of brushing waste of cocoon and controlling the thickness within a set control range based on the size information at the brushing-picking part automatically. Outline of the relatively simple device is as follows.1. The device consists of a detector with a diode bridge and electrodes (contact type), a first controller based on voltage comparison, a second controller based on time comparison, an external output, and a power supply.2. The device can continuouslly collect the size information of brushing waste of cocoon as voltage and controll the size within a set control range on the basis of the information. Hence, the practical application of the device will reduce the watch operation of the brushing-picking part, and increase the size uniformity and raw silk percentage of cocoon.
