概要

• A Chinese sciaenid species, long identified in both China and Japan as <I>Johnius belangerii</I> (Cuvier, 1830), is now considered to be more correctly named as <I>Johnius grypotus</I> (Richardson, 1846). The species is characterized by a blunt snout, wide interorbital space (8.0-9.7% SL), usually eight anal soft rays, high gill raker number (6-7+1+10-14), and ctenoid scales on the throat.
