To reduce earthquake damage in the future, it is very important for each of us to take voluntary countermeasures. After the 1995 Kobe Earthquake, it was clear that the main countermeasures to prevent future disaster were to retrofit low earthquake prevent structures and to fix furniture. However, these measures have not been properly implemented mainly because many people can not imagine a disaster situation. In this study, we try to improve the people's capacity to imagine disasters so that they implement specific disaster countermeasures. At first, we analyze the effect of furniture overturning prevention devices and evaluate its efficiency by shaking table tests. Then, we try to promote people's risk awareness by showing animations of dynamic behavior of furniture in their own living spaces when earthquake occurs. Finally, we promote people's recognition of disaster countermeasures by discussing the furniture overturning ratio decline when overturning prevention devices are installed.
