In order to improve the regional response ability to the earthquake and to mitigate the amount of damage, the simulator system to promote seismic retrofitting is developed. The system intends to make people aware the importance of preparedness for the coming destructive earthquakes and to learn the reason why damage occur and people die during earthquakes. The system guides people to retrofit their house and to fix furniture in their house. The system is composed of web-based geographic information system combined with various simulators such as seismic ground motion, building collapse and furniture toppling over, the shaking table tests images of building and furniture, the e-learning system, the knowledge base system using Wiki and the artificial intelligence CAIWA system and WebLog system.
