Notwithstanding the increasing use of different kinds of computers in ànalyzing control systems, several procedures in analyses for automation are ironically left unautomatized. In this paper, two commonest approaches to automatic control systems are set forth, of which full automatic computational aids are respectively proposed.<BR>(1) s-analysis: Classical concepts of dealing with feedback control systems through the characteristic roots have been renewed by the advent of the root-locus and the log-root-locus which respectively trace characteristic roots on the s-plane and the log s-plane. An instrument which automatically traces log-root-locus is constructed which operates on the potential field represented on a carbon surface. The device is driven by a two dimensional servomechanism, and the gain value is simultaneously measured along the locus.<BR>(2)ω-analysis: The frequency response method has become so versatile as a way was open to the treatment of non-linear control systems by means of the describing function. A testing equipment which automatically finds out either a transfer function and a describing function is constructed. They are measured directly in the gain and the phase values, so that the gain-phase diagram or the Bode diagram are automatically traced if appropriate recorders are used with the equipment.
