As the latest phase of the progress in automatic machining, numerically controlled machine tools were developed, which can automatically operate with the command informations coded in punched tape. Some systems of such machine tools utilize the digital servomec hanism which follows up to command pulses generated in accordance with the code of punched tape. Authors, having the aim to investigate the actions of digital circuits applicable to such a control device, developed a prototype of digital servomechanism. The features of this are as follows:
1) Reversible counter, which compares the number of command pulses with that of feed back pulses, is composed of two double-pulse Dekatrons and can store 100 number of deviation.
2) Digital-analogue converter, which generates D. C. signal voltage to servomotor proportional to number of deviation, is based on the principle that the D. C. voltages of the magnitude in accordance with the conducting position of two Dekatrons are gated by the conduction and introduced to summing amplifier with reference voltage and produce ±50 step output voltage.
3) Feedback pulse generator, which produces one pulse every unit rotary displacement of servomotor in different output path accordingto the direction of motion, utilizes the photoelectric method.
4) Synchronous pulses, which are used for the purpose of, avoiding the coincidence of command pulse and feedback pulse to reversible counter, are produced by the following method. A command pulse generates the rectangular pulse having the width nearly twice the delay time given to command pulse before it is lead to reversible counter. And this rectangular pulse gates pulse train, introduced from oscillator, having the frequency about ten times as much as the maximum frequency of command pulse and produces pulse train which lacks pulses just before and behind command pulses lead to reversible counter.
