A simple method for the preparation of carrier-free 131I is proposed, in which iodine is separated from the target material by extracting on a platinum surface. The radiochemical purity of the product was checked by means of half life measurement and γ ray spectrometry.Paper chromatographic determination indicated that most of the products were in iodide form.
