It is of particular interest that changes in KUPFFER's cells take place upon intraperitoneal injection of methyl-cellulose. The KUPFFER's cells have vacuolation formed in the protoplasm at the primary stage, which then gradually grow larger. No alteration of the mitochondria is observed in the liver cells before the 3rd week after the administration. At the same time connective tissues show a tendency to increase. It is consequently considered that the liver cells are subjected to no evident influence of injection of methyl-cellulose until phagocytic function of the KUPFFER's cells are weakened by the injection.
