The measurements of the thermal properties of an oxide superconducter are not only useful to characterize the sample quality, but important to analyze the mechanism of high-temperature superconductivity. The role of the heat capacity measurement in the research of the oxide superconductors is reviewed. The questions about the low-temperature electronic heat capacity, the fluctuation effect near the critical temperature, the effects of magnetic field and the relation between the heat capacity anomaly and fraction of superconducting component, which have not been answered, are discussed.
