This study aims at establishing quantitative methods for determining the viscoelastic properties of plastics using a ball indenting hardness test. In this paper, the theoretical relationships between strain, flow stress of plastics under a rigid ball indenter and time were analyzed. A simple and intelligible time dependent theoretical expressions for total strain and flow stress of plastics under a rigid ball indenter having a constant load were obtained.
