We present a rare case of pigmented villonodular synovitis of the hip joint. Laboratory findings were positive CRP and elevated ESR. Roentgenographic findings were cystic changes in the acetabulum and the femoral head and narrowed joint space. Low increased signal intensity areas were demonstrated on T1-weighted and T2-weighted MR images. Histo pathogenic examination revealed a nodular area of a diffuse pigmented synovial lesion in which the tissue contained lymphocytes, plasma cells and multinuclear giant cells. These findings suggested an inflammatory character.
