Removing methods of inorganic impurities in white liquor produced by Direct Causticizing process were investigated. inorganic impurities (Al<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB>, SiO<SUB>2</SUB> etc.) contained in several kind of iron ores has no adverse effect on causticizing reaction.<BR>Al<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB> removing effect by addition of magnesium compounds (MgO, Mg (OH) <SUB>2</SUB>, Dolomite etc.) by a factor of 0.05-10 of stoichiometry was experimented.<BR>Material balance of inorganic impurities (Al, K, Cl, Mg, Mn etc.) in white liquor and iron ore was estimated. Impurities content of AP white liquor after Al removing with addition of MgO, white liquor relief to other process (ex. NaOH extraction in bleaching) and iron are purge is almost equivalent to that of KP white liquor.
