Geogrid-reinforced steep-slope embankments combined with steel-wall surface materials are gaining increasing popularity as road embankments materials. However, no clear specifications are defined for steel wall-surface materials, currently in wide use as wall surfaces with this construction method, despite numerous written reports on their use. Nor are three-dimensional configurations for geogrids clearly specified. To address these issues, load tests were performed using a full-scale foundation with a height of 4m and width of 5m. Also discussed in the suitability for three-dimensional configurations of a staggered configuration construction method, which has an extensive past record and for which numerous safety tests have been performed.
