The patient was a 53-year-old male having a secondary syphilitic lesion of the oral mucosa without any other skin or pubic lesion. Submandibular lymphadenopathy was observed. Serological tests for syphilis were positive, and treponema pallidum hemagglutination test was strongly positive. Microscopically, liquefactive degeneration of the superficial layer of epithelium and a predominantly perivascular infiltrate composed of lymphocytes and many plasma cells were observed in oral lesions. The patient was treated with a venous injection of Cefotaxime and with an ointment containing tetracycline and predonisolone. The oral lesion disappeared in two weeks, and the patient was continuously treated in the dermatology ward thereafter.
