A Case of Angioedema of the Oral Region Evaluated by MR Imaging

Angioedema is an acute onset, transient and localized swelling. Report is rare that was evaluated by the magnetic resonance (MR) imaging the extent and characteristic of angioedema. MR imaging was performed a case of angioedema of the two regions in the tongue that was occurred the day (right side) and the day before (left side). In right side, STIR imaging showed uniformly high intensity region in surface layer and muscle tissue of the tongue. On the other, high intensity region was more extent, developed mucous membrane, muscle tissue of the tongue, perimandibular space and parapharyngeal space in left side. MR imaging revealed more extent of spread than inspective swelling on angioedema.
