We investigated the beverage consumption by 125 female junior college students during the summer and winter vacations. The students' average beverage consumption per day was 921ml in summer and 705ml in winter, the summer consumption being significantly higher than that in the winter. Soft drinks were consumed less than other drinks in both the seasons. The consumption of soft and other drinks in the summer was greater than that in the winter. The different types of soft drinks showed the following order of consumption: oolong tea, English tea, mixed tea and pure natural fruit juice in the summer; oolong tea, English tea, pure natural fruit juice and mixed tea in the winter. The other drinks showed the following order of consumption: barley tea, water, oolong tea and milk in the summer; green tea, water, milk and oolong tea in the winter.Although tea beverages were consumed in greater quantity in the summer than in the winter, tea represented about 50% of the students' total beverage consumption, in the summer and winter alike, whether in the form of soft or other drinks, indicating little seasonal influence.
