The Effects of indigestible dextrine intake on stool weight, stool state and conditions of the stomach and intestines were investigated in order to study the influence of indigestible dextrine on evacuation in the humans. The results obtained were as follows.1) A 10-60g indigestible dextrine intake resulted in almost soft stools. The effective dose of 50% diarrhea (ED50) was assumed to be 2.4g/kg body weight. There were no noticeable changes in the stomach or intestines.2) After the continuous indigestible dextrine intake (35g/day for 5 days), stool weight and frequencies were increased with the water content remaining unchanged.3) After the continuous indigestible dextrine intake (5-1g/day for 5 days), bowel movements were improved.
