The study attempted to clarify the green tea consumption pattern among junior high school students (360 for summer time investigation; 367 for winter time investigation) in order to identify the importance of green tea in their daily meals in relation to nutritional values of their meals and their relationship with family. The data was obtained from consumption patterns of 11 kinds of beverages (green tea, coffee, black tea, juice, soda pop, cola, milk, fermented lactic drinks, barley tea, water, etc.).1) Seventy three % of the subjects preferred green tea, but only 40% responded that they drank it more than once a day in winter, and 28% in summer.2) Students who drink green tea frequently usually drink it with other members of their family over dinner (59%), at home (90%) and many regarded green tea as a symbol of communication among family members (58%).3) Frequent green tea drinkers usually drink it with floods, at breakfast and at the time of family gatherings.4) Meals that they had with green tea mainly consisted of more than three dishes; staple food, main dish and side dish.
