To estimate the nutritive value of antarctic krill protein on human subjects, the digestibility and nitrogen balance index of krill protein in 5 male young adults were compared with those of egg protein.The subjects received low protein diets containing 0.3g/kg/day and 0.5g/kg/day of protein of precooked, freeze-dried powdered krill and a whole egg for 4 days, respectively.From the results of the present experiments, the digestibility of krill protein was observed to be similar to that of egg protein and the nitrogen balance index of krill protein was 0.546, whereas that of egg protein was 0.612.
