Are precipitation data in Peru really reliable ?:The comparison between World Monthly Surface Station Climatology and original data obtained from Hydrometeorological Agency of Peru

Monthly precipitation data of six stations in Peru compiled at National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) are compared with original data obtained from Hydrometeorological Agency of Peru (El Servicio Nacional de Meteorologia e Hidrologia, SENAMHI) for about 30 years. They should be equal when data of the same period are compared, but they are not always equal due to round off, transmission error, unknown origin and so on. However, it is clarified by this research that about 80% of all monthly precipitation data of NCAR have reliabilities of 10mm/month.
