A 6-year-old boy with relapsing pneumonia was examined by aortography, and a diagnosis of intralobar pulmonary sequestration was made. The left lower lobe was removed. The sequestered portion of lung was fed by an anomalous artory, 5 mm in diameter, originating from the celiac artery. It penetrated the diaphragm through the pulmonary ligament, running into the left lower lobe at segment 10, and emptied into the inferior pulmonary vein. The sequestered portion was separated from the rest of the lower lobe by a band of fibrous tissue, and it contained severe inflammatory changes, and cysts. He is doing well after the operation. Intralobar pulmonary sequestration with an anomalous artery originating from the celiac artery is very rare. We found only 11 cases in the Japanese literature, including our case. There were no significant differences from other types of intralobar pulmonary sequestrations with anomalous arteries originating from the aorta.
