Study on complex dielectric properties of culture medium.

The temperature and frequency dependency of electric properties on a culture medium and a sodium chloride solution were measured and concentration of a sodium chloride solution which had an equivalent dielectric constant to culture medium at 16.0°C in the frequency range 0.2-3.0GHz was found. To measure the temperature dependency of electric properties on a medium precisely real-time temperature of a medium was measured by using of control equipment. Furthermore from the coefficient of relative dielectric constant and relative loss factor as a function of temperature much information can be obtained. By using of sodium chloride solution the basic experiment can be performed easily. From the results, the temperature distribution of a culture medium can be analyzed with microwaves irradiated to a culture medium. Furthermore the basic experiment to examine the thermal effects on cells can be performed to irradiate microwaves to a culture medium including cells.
