In flotation practice, chemical analyses are used to estimate the quality of products and to control the efficiency of the beneficiation process. Unfortunately, the delay between the sampling operations and the achievement of chemical analyses is so big that changes are applied to the system after the targeted ore leaves the system. To deal with this deficiency, a less time-consuming system of analysis has been developed in two steps. The first step involves a microscopic counting of particles through which an estimate of the grade can be made and the second step, a computerizing through image analyzing to make the system less time-consuming. The grade of a rougher fluorite concentration, estimated by this method is close to the one obtained through chemical analysis.
