A horizontally circular motion plate has been developed as a particle shape separator. The circular plate fixed on the shaking table of a gyratory screen for separation is used.<BR>Particles are fed beside the circular wall. Spherical particles run into the central collector directly, while nonspherical particles travel along the wall. Finally, they touch the scraper and are eventually scraped out from the gate. The crushed glass sized 500 to 848 μm are mixed with glass beads sized 500 to 740 μm in various weight ratios. The mixture were fed using a vibrating feeder. The separation efficiency could be determined by the amount of nonspherical particles existing on the plate.<BR>The particle motion along the wall is measured in order to determine the efficiency of separation and the treatment capacity. A kinematics model and decide the movement of spherical and nonspherical particles is proposed.
