In order to investigate how the mutual action of amine collector and alcohol affects the collection phenomena in flotation, the present study was carried out by using dodecylamine chloride (DAC) as a collector and decyl alcohol (ROH) as a frother. The attachment of scheelite particles to air bubble and the interfacial tension at the mercuryaquous solution interface were meas-ured in solutions containing DAC and ROH together.<BR>As a result, at fixed concentrations of DAC there was an optimum alcohol concentration to give a maximum attachment of scheelite particles to air bubble. The interfacial tension decreased more markedly when DAC and ROH were used together than when each of them was used alone. At fixed amine concentrations, there was also an optimum alcohol addition to give a minimum value of the interfacial tension. The optimum alcohol concentration was about the same as obtained in the case of scheelite-bubble attachment. Further, the mutual action of amine collector and alcohol frother was discussed from the viewpoint of their coadsorption and their joint effect at the solid-aqueous solution interface.
