Systemic insecticidal properties of 1-naphthyl N-methylcarbamate (NAC) were investigated by colorimetric determination and biological test of insecticidal residue in rice plant which is translocated from treated soil.
In laboratory experiments, this compound showed the systemic action from treated soil to the plants grown in it. According to the further tests, it was found that this compound was accumulated much more in leaf blades than in leaf sheaths or roots. The maximum concentrations in rice leaf blades grown in soil treated with 50 and 100 mg of active ingredient per 1 pot were 11 and 25 p.p.m. respectively. In biological tests, the toxic action was retained for 4 weeks after transplantation, against the green rice leafhoppers, in laboratory condision.
In field experiment, NAC residue in the plant grown in treated soil was determined. The results were closely related to the laboratory experiments.
