Occurrence of a dithiocarbamates-resistant strain of the pink citrus rust mite, Aculops pelekassi (KEIFER), was confirmed in citrus orchards of Saga Prefecture in 1996. The LC<SUB>50</SUB> value of mancozeb to the resistant strain was 3, 479 ppm, and this value was about 4.6 times higher than the practical recommended concentration. The efficacies of several chemicals to control the dithiocarbamate resistant strain were evaluated by the fruit-dipping method. Pyridaben, tebufenpyrad, pyrimidifen, quinalphos, chlorpyrifos, and fluazinam were shown to be efficient chemicals for adults; among these pyridaben was judged to be the most effective for control of both adults and eggs, as it demonstrated very low LC<SUB>50</SUB> and LC<SUB>95</SUB> values.
