A snowdrift around a structure or a micro-topography is closely related to the property of the wind flow around that. The purpose of this study is to clarify the relation between snowdrift and wind flow. In this paper, characteristics of snowdrift and wind flow around a two-dimensional type collector snow fence were investigated by wind tunnel tests and snow wind tunnel tests. First, the snowdrift around the fence was measured in a snow wind tunnel. Then the wind flow around the model which is simulated the snowdrift around the fence was measured in detail by means of a triple-split probe anemometer in a boundary layer wind tunnel. The test results yielded the change of snowdrift patterns around the fence with duration of snowfall and the change of flow characteristics, including vortices formed in front of and behind the fence, by the change of snowdrift.
