For the treatment of grade III acromioclavicular (A-C) dislocation, our method of choice consists of open reduction, repair of the coracoacromial ligament with additional positional wiring, and transfixation of the A-C joint with K-wires.During the last 3 years, 16 cases were treated with this method. The average age was 37.5 years, ranging from 17 to 70 years. The mean follow-up period was 18 months, ranging from 3 to 38 months. The results were excellent in 15 cases and fair in one according to Kawabe's evaluation system, proving our method is quite satisfactory.
