Two-stage reimplantations were performed for eleven infected joint arthroplasties (total hip replacement: 6 cases, femoral head replacement: 3 cases and total knee replacement: 2 cases) and were evaluated after an average follow up of 53 months. While the recurrences of infection were noted in 4 of 5 cemented revision cases, no recurrence was seen in 6 non-cemented revision cases. Our results suggest that early extraction of the infected implant and two-stage reimplantation with non-cement are reliable procedures for the management of infected prothesis.
