The numerical analysis of photographs taken by the usual simple camera under bad conditions is derived in this study. As the information from each photograph gives the direction vectors from each independent coordinate system, the algorism contains the method in which the two systems are orientated under the coplanarity condition of the pairs of the direction vectors. The components of the rotational matrices corresponding to the coordinate systems are computed by the iteration that the method of least squares is adopted to decrease the difference between the observation equations and the linear approximates. The practical convenience is as follows: (1) each photograph may be taken under free direction of the camera, that is, the parallel condition of the optical axes of the photograph is not needed in this analysis; and (2) the measured points for the orientation are arbitrary under any geometrical conditions if more than five vectors are independent. Most of the relative errors between the observed and the calculated values were less than 3% in the results of the test computation by large electric computer.
