Studies on the constituents of the annual shoots of Larix leptolepis GORDON (III)

Significant amounts of phenolic compounds existed in the annual shoots of 15-year-old Larix leptolepis GORDON collected on October 30, 1974, during the dormant period. Four flavonoid compounds isolated from the annual shoots were identified as eriodictyol, taxifolin, (-)-epiafzelechin, and (+)-catechin from the results of the UV, IR, Ms, NMR spectra, elemental analysis and so forth. In Avena straight growth test, these flavonoid compounds showed no effects in serial concentrations with or without the application of 1 ppm IAA or 1 ppm ABA. In rice seedling test, these flavonoid compounds showed growth inhibiting action in serial concentrations, which was slightly reversed with the application of 0.1ppm GA3.
