Stratificational Grammarの批判的検討

This paper is a critical review of Sydney S. Lamb's 'stratificational grammar'. The problems dealt wirh here are those shown in his <I>Outline of Stratificational Grammar</I> and his some papers.<BR>The main point is whether his way to divide the phonological field into 'hypophonemic stratum' and 'phonemic stratum', the grammar into 'morphemic stratum' and 'lexemic stratum' and the semantic field into 'sememic stratum' and 'hypersememic stratum' are correct.<BR>As a conclusion, it can be said that, though we can find some interesting viewpoints in his theory, his theoretical construct as a whole does not show the real figure of language.
