In the two previous reports, the author has reported on the effects of noise on ECG and serum electrolytes, i.e. an increase in T voltage, a slight decrease in serum sodium concentration and no significant variation in serum potassium concentration. The relation between ECG and concentrations of serum or heart muscle electrolytes due to exposure to noise to noise in male adult rabbits as investigated. The animals were divided into 3 groups, as follow: group A ...... number of animals 4 ...... single exposure to noise (100∼105 phon, 3 hours) group B ...... number of animals 6 ...... lons-run exposure to noise (95 phon, 15 hours/day, 3 months) group C ...... number of animals 6 ...... control group ECG was recorded by limb leads. Sodium and potassium concentrations in serum and in heart muscle were determined by flame photometry. As to ECG, R wave amplitudes after exposure were higher in group A and lower in group B than before exposure. No changes of T heights were observed in 2 experimental groups, but potassium concentrations in serum were lower in group A than C. In myocardial tissues, variations of sodium concentrations were not significant in all groups, but potassium concentrations were higher in groups A and B than C.
