The melting rate of an aluminum sphere in an aluminum or silmin bath was measured under argon gas injection conditions with the gas flow rate ranging from 0.059 to 0.53Nl/min.A mathematical analysis of the results gave values of heat and mass transfer coefficients, which increased as the gas flow rate increased.Estimated values of heat and mass transfer coefficients by using reported heat and mass transfer equations were compared with the experimental values.
