The development of fluidized bed combustion boiler has been vigorously pursued by users and manufacturers with governmental funds in Japan and now reaches the stage of commercialization.<BR>This paper describes the development program in the past with some results, the present status of commercialization and future prospect of this unique, home-made technology.
