On the petrolochemical characteristics of Jurassic granitic rocks intruded in the Suan copper mining district, Korean Peninsula

Relatively unaltered and altered granitoids from the upper Jurassic Suan granitic stock of the Korean Peninsula were examined mineralogically and chemically. The rocks are mostly amphibole-bearing biotite granodiorite and granite, which seem to belong to ilmenite series or intermediate series rich in alkali components. The studied granitoids are plotted in the high-K series in the K2O-SiO2 diagram. In the Na2O-K2O diagram, the granitoids are similar to other Jurassic pink granites everywhere in the Korean Peninsula. Sporadic high Sr/Y rocks are observed, indicating some adakitic characters. Cl content of the biotite and apatite are relatively high, yet not the highest so far observed in mineralized areas of East Asia.
