The heavy industries in our country are now suffering from structural depression and are seeking effective measures, such as diversification, for greater security against such depression
In line with the above policy, electronics and control techniques were been taken up at Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd. for the continuing education of engineers on a systematic basis.
In this paper, as an example of our continuing education program, we introduce the contents and the method of training in sequence control, for the reason that it is among the most important techniques for the developement of new products in our company, although little emphasis is placed on sequence control techniques in the engineering curricula of universities and colleges.
This training lasts for eight days (64 hours), of which five days are devoted to lectures and three to laboratory practice.
The lectures are given on how to draw and read sequence control circuits, the Boolean algebra, sequence control hardwere, and basic sequence control circuits. In the laboratory session, sequence control circuits are built with relays and programmable controllers.
