The rocks in the vicinity of the Kishu mine consist of sandstones and shales of the Tertiary formation called the Miyai series, and acidic igneous rocks called the Kumano acidic rocks.
The veins in the Kishu mine may be divided into three groups by their strikes; (1) NS, (2) EW and (3) NW-SE.
The general compressive stress in the NW-SE direction caused the fissures. Most of three fissures are tension cracks and gravity faults.
The mineralization was performed in four different stages, namely (1) Cu-Py, (2) Pb-Zn, (3) Au-Ag, and (4) calcite.
The occurrence of bonanzas is physically and chemically controlled by the distribution of the sedimentary rock facies.
